At Selhurst Park, Chris Billam-Smith, a British fighter, defeated fellow countryman Richard Riakporhe via unanimous decision to maintain his WBO cruiserweight title. It had rained all evening in London, but it stopped in time for Billam-Smith to give a performance of his career. The Bournemouth fighter took the lead and scored more points in a sluggish contest that occasionally picked up steam in the later rounds. London fighter Riakporhe was given a point deduction in the 12th round for persistently excessive holding in front of 15,000 home supporters in an outdoor arena. The unanimous decision went to Billam-Smith, 33, who had scores of 116-111, 115-112, and 115-112. He exacted revenge for the champion’s lone loss in 21 fights, a points loss to Riakporhe in 2019.
